  • Isolation, characterization and development of new applications to plant macromolecules, emphasizing the use of renewable resources. Chemical modification and incorporation of these macromolecules in composites, new polymeric materials and derivatives with different applications, such as in water remediation, membranes for periodontal regeneration, food films (packaging), etc;
  • Recycling of polymers from non-renewable sources (PVC, PET, PS, etc.) with the objective of environmental sustainability;
  • Computer simulation of chitin and chitosan nanoparticles for environmental decontamination and creation of tissues for cell regeneration;
  • Development of nanobiosensors based on molecular modeling and simulation of biopolymers in the condensed phase;
  • Utilization of industrial and urban waste;
  • Micro and nano blends based on natural and/or synthetic polymers;
  • Biopolymers.
