Program Information:
The Graduate Program in Chemistry (PPGQUI) at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) is nationally recognized for its excellence in training master's and doctoral students. With more than two decades of history, the program has established itself as a center for scientific production, innovation, and the development of highly qualified professionals. PPGQUI offers Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Chemistry, both accredited and highly evaluated by CAPES, the Brazilian governmental agency for higher education.
Background History:
The Graduate Program in Chemistry (PPGQUI) at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) was established in 1998 with a Master’s program, initially earning a CAPES score of 3. Through continuous improvements in faculty expertise, infrastructure, and research output, the program grew in stature, achieving a CAPES score of 5 by 2013. In 2006, PPGQUI expanded by introducing a Doctoral program in collaboration with the Federal University of Goiás (UFG) and the Federal University of Catalão (UFCAT), which helped strengthen its research capabilities. By 2013, the program gained autonomy, launching its independent Doctoral degree, further solidifying its academic reputation.
Program Ranking:
In the 2017–2020 CAPES evaluation, PPGQUI attained a score of 6 for both its Master’s and Doctoral programs, earning recognition under the PROEX (Program of Academic Excellence).
