Curriculum Composition

The Master’s Program in Chemistry (PPGQUI) at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) offers a comprehensive curriculum focused on providing advanced theoretical and practical training in chemistry. To complete the program, students must earn 20 credits, distributed among compulsory courses (12 credits), elective courses (8 credits), and research activities leading to a Master's dissertation. Core courses cover scientific methodology and research seminars, while electives allow specialization in areas like analytical chemistry, organic synthesis, materials chemistry, computational chemistry, environmental chemistry, and biochemistry. Students must also pass a qualification exam, actively participate in seminars, and are encouraged to publish or submit research, though publication is not mandatory for graduation.

How it is conducted

The Master’s Program in Chemistry (PPGQUI) at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) is a full-time, in-person program requiring active participation in coursework, research, and seminars, typically completed within 24 months (with a maximum of 30 months). Most students receive scholarships from CAPES, CNPq, or FAPEMIG, with some institutional scholarships also available; recipients must dedicate themselves exclusively to the program.

Applicants must hold a completed long-term undergraduate degree recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC) in Chemistry. Exceptionally, with Board approval, degrees in related fields such as Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Physics, or Engineering may also be accepted.
